Relapse, Singleton 2006, Outsider Hippie Art

Relapse, total relapse
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Haunched,
ready to run,
watching,
waiting.

And
the sun was new and yellow
and glaring,
the coquina under my feet
almost blinding.

I almost didn't see you.
And when I did...
I forgot to run.
to fight.
to save myself from this again

relapse,
total relapse.

The King of Dread, Singleton, Outsider Art

The Humpty Dumpty
Outsider Art
(c) Singleton 2006

All dressed up and on top of the world! King of it all! And then, out of nowhere, Chaos is zooming in, threatening to crack my fragile little self. Arrrrrgggghhhhhh! I'll just stand here and be very very still and "pretend" I'm having peace.... Are we having fun yet?

Little Reminders of Voo-Doo, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

Little Reminders of
Voo Doo
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

Like rusty little nails,
you hammered your voo-doo who- do into my world.

Fooled you, though,
moved my love beads farthest
from my heart

And you missed
On your very last foolish lunge

And I'm not empty.

But, vacant,
And that should have been
welcomed all along

Markers, pencils, ink, and a little bit of Joanie on cardstock

Fly Catcher, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

FLY CATCHER
Outsider Artwork
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

We know who you are
and saw what you did

This isn't some cheap little B rated movie, where you can parade in and out, littering the floors with obscene little motives and leaving your dirty fingerprints across my heart.

I am the fly catcher
And I'll catch you
when I can

Don't Look Down, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

(c) Singleton 2006
Outsider Art

DON'T LOOK DOWN
Rock bottom is much further than you think

SOLD

I'll masquerade around, arms tied, pretending to float.
Sinking
Kicking
grappling at the rusty little treasures...
waterlogged moths, barely breathing....

All dressed up and no place to go
Except tomorrow.
Or down.

Sorry, Wrong Number , Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

Sorry, wrong number...
I'll try again

(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

Accidents happen.
And sometimes they're wonderful.
You tumble backwards,
feet slipping off the curb,
and plow head on into fate...
we magically tumble into what was never meant to be,
mistakenly thinking
this is it.
Love.

And then it hits you.

The Wedding Box, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

Wedding Box
Outsider Hippie Keepsake Box
(C) Singleton 2006

Pretty little flowers scattered all around,
I tuck my memories here for safeness
then
count to ten and...

it's an ever-empty little box
contents on the floor

And I see you...
watching me...
(As if I care)

I kick the petals to the side
dancing in the dust
and post my keep-out sign
like dirty laundry on the line

The wedding box.
And all that other hoo-ha

All that stuff I use... in and on The Wedding Box

Pretty Little Story, Singleton 2006

PEACEKEEPER
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

I've changed the locks
I hope you understand
I'll miss your eyes
the see-through color of thin waves
kissing sandbars
and the way you threw your head back
to laugh
chugging the good down

But you let the flies in

I hope you understand

Catching Marbles in the Rain, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

Catching Marbles in The Rain
Outsider Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

In the early morning, sleepless,
"wandering the halls til almost dawn"
hours
I gave up and
trapsed outside
head banging
coughing
from a too late night
and
found her there
dancing in the knee high grass,
catching marbles in the rain.

Rumors, Singleton 2006, Outsider hippie Art

RUMORS
(c) Singleton 2006
Self Portrait from the Bar
Unfinished

Sold

We all have good intentions,
we start out meaning well...
naughty little demons,
broken charms around my neck
And it's the morning after,
in the face that faces me,
that reminds me that I'm haunted...

Ink, markers, pencils, bottlecaps, Michelob label, acrylics, scribblings on canvas; sealed
Unfinished, but over, done, movin'on because at night, while she rested, and i wandered the house, her face changed, her eyes and her hair were afire and I didn't want her(me) watching me(her) anymore. i kept waking up and adding words...."Keep out, Who are you? I just want peace. Go Away! " And she just kept looking at me...until I threw her in the back of the car and drove her to Georgia, face covered, and left her in the safe arms of Paiger.

Fairyteller, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

FAIRYTELLER
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Don't think that for one moment
I believe
your stupid little ghost stories.
I'm just listening...
choosing to inhale...
to take the sepia remnants of your
bruised and battered
aura
and remember the afterglow

Peek-a-boo, Singleton

Peek-a-Boo
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Oh, he's there.
Peeking through borrowed eyes,
listening to second hand stories,
Parading around in a paper bag mask
living the perfect life

Watching
And waiting

Kaleidescope Kite, Singleton

Kaleidescope Kite
Outsider Hippie Art on legal envelope
(C) Singleton 2006

My fingers clutch at the tattered string,
and the pretty little kite floats away...

I'm dancing in our daydream,
tethered to your ghost....
barefoot and bluejeaned with
the music barely on

An empty sky swallows whole
what was and "what should never be"

But it's your words I miss the most.

Color markers and pen on another empty envelope
Inspired by Zepplin, MaryEllen, Those Fateful Blue Eyes
and the abundance of letter size envelopes that kept making their way to the beer lined coffee table

Words you'll never know, Singleton

Words
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Peace.
Love.
You will never hear,
never read,
never imagine.
Tucked safely here
In a found envelope
Addressed to no one.
"Send me words" you used to say...and I did...
morning bouquets of peace and love and startling relevations... that rocked your world...
but you didn't protect them. Guard them like your virginity. And now they are spoiled. And so what's left, for the postman to deliver
is just a stack
of
empty envelopes

Pen and colored markers on a roadtrip envelope

Paper Kites, Singleton

ENVELOPE # FOUR
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Empty little suitcases
filled with nothing, but my thoughts
Paper kites I'll never fly,
never leave for you to find.
Addressed to no one in particular
in case they lose their way
Empty little suitcases,
filled with nothing, but my heart

Pen and colored markers on legal envelope

Just Stop Talking
(c) Singleton 2006

Your
Incessant chattering,
noise,
background static
is raining on my peace

You're always
flapping at the jaws...
and never listening...

Ashes, Ashes...We All Fall Down, Singleton

Ring around the
Dead Posies...
(c) Singleton 2006
Outsider Hippie Art
SOLD

Here lie the words, the many many words, the moments like a memory, the magic.....
of days gone by,
of days cradled,
of days counted.
cherished,
and cussed.
"I've loved you for a million years" ....

"see me, feel me, touch me"
I believe.
Do you hear me now?

And they all fall down.
