Sometimes,
you just need to be still.
Very, very still.
And pray for peace.

Touching Sirena, Singleton Hippie Art on hand drum
TOUCHING SIRENA
(c) Singleton
Hippie Art on Giant Gourd Hand Drum
"The dirty sands shifted,
ever so slightly,
and sunlight scattered through the darkness....
instant fireflies falling in the rheumy river....
She reached up and touched one....
two...
caught another...
building a candelabra
from the shattered rays
to light her way....
As
the currents crawled,
trickled, tripped,
snaked
through the woods....
running north, north east...
clinging to the thick earth,
sloshing past alligator eyes...
and banjos
until
Sirena,
swimming amongst the Manatee,
reached the salty sea.....
and the waters made brackish love to each other....
Here,
she became whole again...
The free spirited Hippie Princess of the River,
and Mermaid of the Sea...
Sweet Sirena...
Mother of it all....

Over My Blue Moon, Singleton Hippie Art
Over My Blue Moon
Singleton Hippie Art
I looked over your shoulder,
past your drunken rheumy brown eyes and
into the deep sea of the night time sky....
and there...
just over the Tip~toe Tree,
I saw it beginning to show,
to glow,
to grow....
The First Full Moon....
The Sturgeon Moon....
so Bright and incandescent and foolish
that it wore a petticoat of Goldshine
as it teeterd in the sky,
as wobbly on the skyline as you were on cheap wine and all my stories.....
And we laughed...
And embraced the wildness of our first full moon,
the one before the meteor showers.....
the one before the Blue, Blue Moon of Once Upon a Time...
Artwork and words (c) Singleton 2012
Created with peace, love, and a hangover....on the morning after the stars fell at the feet of the first full moon.....

Imagine, Singleton Hippie Art Original
IMAGINE
(C) Singleton
A Hippe Art Box of Thoughts....
I reached down and scooped up
tiny abandoned periwinkle shells,
the colors of pastel rainbows,
and buried them deep into my pockets....
Seaweed, a deep forest green,
wrapped itself around my ankles,
an impromptu braided bracelet from the tides....
And
I knew
I was in Love again....
With all my forgotten Dreams,
my lost imagination......
And I knew then,
that
I would Dance again"

Sometimes it's all we Need, Singleton Hippie Art
Words and Artwork (c) Singleton 2009
I woke up this morning
to the cool
quiet
damp sounds of a new day
stretching
stewing
lazily nudging me hello...
And in the distance,
a sun rising
to remind me...
Sometimes,
all we need
is Love
A little hippie peace~love for you, 5 x 7 doodles of markers, colored pencils, ink

Love Now

I sing...
Ten thousand
sweet nothings
never whispered in your ear....
And time has wings...
Say it now....
In sidewalk chalk colors....
LOVE.....
Over and Over Again...
LOVE...
Love may last forever, but these moments do not
They keep coming and going, each one faster than the one before
ten til two in the morning, two past ten at night
I Love You
so while the world around me lays asleep
I creep out into the street
scribbling,
with my chin on my knees
chalk in my fingers
and you in my heart
...Love

Catch and Release, Singleton Hippie Art
The Peace
(c) Singleton 2008
"There at the bottom of it all,
I scrunched my toes
deep into the sand
and held on for
a never~ever again
forever...
waiting to breathe....
To be lifted up again...
To see the sun....
And then....
I felt the tiniest thread
of change...
black waters turning tepid blue,
champagne chilled
and full of
life...
And I remembered...
what I needed to share....
Peace...."

The Girl with the Peace Tattoo, Singleton Hippie Art
(C) Singleton 2008
She was there
in the crowd,
Leon Russell on the stage,
a barefooted ballerina
flitting over mud puddles
and ice chests,
totally free...
And behind the pink
cloak of yesterday,
she still dances...
and every now and then...
someone notices
the tattoo....
Sometimes you have to go back,
to get it right. 8 1/2 by 11 on cardstock. Colored pencils, ink, markers, Michelobs, peace and love. I was a hippie then. And I thought I was an artist. But nobody put the two of them together...

Find your Peace, Singleton Hippie Art

(c) Singleton 2008
It's there,
in the shards of
yesterday,
tomorrow,
now...
the little broken pieces
of what was once
Fiesta Ware....
The colors of peace,
fleeting fragments...
Find 'em....
Grab 'em....
Glue them back together...
String 'em from the sky...
Chaos is the canvas...
Color it with peace...

Peace, Love, The Dream...Singleton 2008 Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2008
SOLD
.
Tangled in Sunday sheets,
I stretched,
tossed,
let the Sun sprinkle pixie dust in my eyes
and woo
me back to sleep....
.
Cold, summer sleep...
And we we're dancing...
heads thrown back in laughter,
everyone else wrapped around their partners,
swooning,
but we were laughing...
.
And it was the Peace,
tattered little sticks and strings,
woven,
matted,
braided together
that
made them stare at us....
.
Love is like that....
.
Even in my dreams....

One Peace, Singleton 2008 Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2008
He rifled through the
glove box,
paper cups, scratched CD's
and registrations to six cars back,
thumbing for something,
anything,
to put his fingers on,
that said yesterday
"I loved".....
The sky changed into a
thousand gowns,
dripping with jewels
and then suddenly,
barren blue...
almost black...
and he grasped at nothing....
laughterless...
And remembered.....
The one peace he had laid to rest....
Freedom.....
the yesterday that said
"I love you"....

Say the words, Feel the love, Singleton Outsider Hippie Art
Feel The Love
(C) Singleton 2008
Bamboo wind chimes
clunking,
bunking
drumming in a
Friday night breeze,
bohemian music
for peace....
And
I'm
giddy
from
the accidental high,
hungover in the morning
from
lightheaded laughing
and twirling in the dark,
from chasing fireflies
and barflies,
playing hide-n-go seek,
peek~a~boo, baby,
and
"Name that song".....
Friday's are for dancin'.....
And feelin' the love....

"Just give me Peace" she said, Singleton, Hippie Art

(c) Singleton 2008
Over and over again,
a mantra,
a record grooving, grinding
grating,
on the same old words
makin' music
outa
vinyl dreams.
She dances in the dark,
in the early mornin'
peace,
makin' love to the
new day,
gifted,
free.....
scribblin' love letters to the past,
stone washed,
torn,
and raveled.....
but,
it's all the same....
a mantra,
a record,
grooving, grinding, grating
on the same old words....
"Just give me peace" she said....
And in the wind,
she heard him say
"Amen"

Pixies for Peace, Singleton Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2008
Featured here now
I twirl my hair...
fingertips twyning,
macrame'ing
braiding
twisting
a cobweb of
yellow,
golden,
peace ~love for free,
casting
shadows on your dashboard...
christmas tinsel
scattered everywhere...
the tell-tale signs I've been here....
I fold tin foil,
roll it,
coil it
into sudden snakes,
1000 peace signs,
and suspend them
in
mid~air flight,
on broken branches,
graffitied stop signs,
broken bottle necks....
And in the glimmer,
the simmer,
the aftermath,
I watch you,
in make~believe...
smiling.....

When Pixies make Peace, Singleton Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2008
On Parade Soon
I wadded it all up,
the burnt orange sunflowered sheets,
the sandy cat hair littered kitchen floor,
the margarita glasses with the peeling
paint that
kissed your lips,
left salty tattoos
on your chin,
your smile,
floating on the rim.
I packed it all up
and scooped it into yesterday,
an overstuffed pillow
tossed carelessly on the floor.
And in this pixie-ixie land I
live in.....
I can't wait to have a pillow fight.....
To bonk you in the head with
all your
"hey, I've got an idea"s
and your barbie doll suitcases stuffed to
the brim,
to take you out at the knees
with all the "could've beens" and
"should've beens"
and
then
collapse
in a heap,
carelessly tossed on the floor....
laughing.....

I've known you forever, Singleton 2008 outsider hippie art
(C) Singleton 2008
Private Collection
I met an angel
by fate
or happenchance.
sitting out a dance
on the sidewalk of these pages,
and he whispered
to my soul,
in his raspy
yesterday voice,
with old words
in an old language,
the one word I've
waited to hear.....
Eternity.....
And I knew then,
what I had to whisper back.......
Peace.......

The Marathon, Singleton 2007, Outsider Art
(c) Singleton 2007
Collapsed
on the vinyl sea
belly to the sun
riveted to
the moment
I drift
eyes closed
and then open to
the rains
and remember
the running
faster and faster
out of breath
and time
and a
place to hide.
And
weightless
I tether myself to
a pretendy bendy kind of peace
and the trinkety tide
becomes
the wind
and pushes
me
closer
to the edge.
And
I wait
to be lifted......

Three Hundred and Sixty Five, 2007, Singleton Outsider Art, Bachman words
THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE
Outsider Hippie Woman Art
Outsider Hippie Woman Art
Artwork (c) Singleton 2007
Poetry (c) Bachman 2007
every string of hats from dead cowboys
each face painted with a new life;
Some found that old Boot Hill
was all of the
three hundred and sixty five
one night stands...
Every dead cowboy met his match
on that one night
he stood up to you;
my stranger
how many hats do you own? do you wear?
how many six shooters?
three hundred sixty five
this year to the day
you shoot straight,
somewhere between the eyes
or in the the knees
sparing the heart
or or at least sparing the hat--
but always the hat,
so you can paint
it shades of your lifeblood mosaic
and all the many broken but useable
blues
that you learned to sing
when we were all too young
to know where dead cowboys
hang their hats
when its time to say goodnight
with a hope that they've found a home
for one last night
