The Peace Love and Understanding Coloring Book

And this, through the eyes of a soulful Child....No words needed.

Little Madison Campbell Butler colored this page from The Peace Love and Understanding Coloring Book... and in doing so, she painted the world as One.  All of us.  One human kind existing together.... all colors, all genders, all orientations, religions, ethnicities and ages....

Her vision is mine.  And I hope, yours....

One world.  One love...

May the Circle be unbroken.....

The Trip at Dusk

We parked under the humming halo light,
the sound of electricity, a thousand mosquitos strong...
and parked her there,
facing the night~time road
while we wandered like hippies do....

And when we returned,
a love note was tucked under the wipers,
not signed,
but sent with peace and love....

Just like hippies do....

Road Trippin'....

"Together we make Sunshine,
whisk it into giant clouds of weightless glitter
and spin it into tinseled yarn....
And then like little old Pixies,
we drape it everywhere we go....
wrap it around Elderly trees,
sprinkle it on broken sidewalks,
tie it into giant tassels and pin it on
the handle bars of rickety rusty old bicycles...

We're spreading joy....
the simple peace of everyday life splashed new with a little soulful paint..."

Touching Sirena, Singleton Hippie Art on hand drum

TOUCHING SIRENA
(c) Singleton
Hippie Art on Giant Gourd Hand Drum

"The dirty sands shifted,
ever so slightly,
and sunlight scattered through the darkness....
instant fireflies falling in the rheumy river....

She reached up and touched one....
two...
caught another...
building a candelabra
from the shattered rays
to light her way....
As
the currents crawled,
trickled, tripped,
snaked
through the woods....
running north, north east...
clinging to the thick earth,
sloshing past alligator eyes...
and banjos
until
Sirena,
swimming amongst the Manatee,
reached the salty sea.....
and the waters made brackish love to each other....

Here,
she became whole again...
The free spirited  Hippie Princess of the River,
and Mermaid of the Sea...
Sweet Sirena...
Mother of it all....

The Spell Spinner, Singleton Hippie Art

THE SPELL SPINNER
Singleton Hippie Art
Words and Art Copyright 2014

" I kicked the dirt,
and didn't look up....
didn't catch your eyes catching mine,
but felt them...
a Butterfly net softly capturing my lashes...

and I
kept walking...

And then it was,
The  heat,
the Hello that didn't happen,
the wild current of electricity,
sweet serendipity,
almost  meant-to-be,
but not-just-yet,
fate....

That Almost tripped me up....

We were spinning spells....

And we had just begun...."

Peace is my Every Wish, Singleton Hippie Art and Words

I bit my lip,
and twirled my hair,
into knotted cinnamon twists,
dangling......

And in the forced damp air
of the vintage camper....

I counted....
forced myself to wonder,

to wander,

to dream
of The Ten Desires...

And made it to seven....
in my tin can heaven..

Over My Blue Moon, Singleton Hippie Art

Over My Blue Moon
Singleton Hippie Art

I looked over your shoulder,

past your drunken rheumy brown eyes and
into the deep sea of the night time sky....

and there...
just over the Tip~toe Tree,

I saw it beginning to show,
to glow,
to grow....

The First Full Moon....
The Sturgeon Moon....

so Bright and incandescent and foolish
that it wore a petticoat of Goldshine
as it teeterd in the sky,
as wobbly on the skyline as you were on cheap wine and all my stories.....

And we laughed...

And embraced the wildness of our first full moon,
the one before the meteor showers.....
the one before the Blue, Blue Moon of Once Upon a Time...

Artwork and words (c) Singleton 2012

Created with peace, love, and a hangover....on the morning after the stars fell at the feet of the first full moon.....

The Psychedelic Forest, Singleton and Singleton Hippie Flash Art

The Psychedelic Forest
(c) Singleton and Singleton

"We camped on the Banks of the River,

Nesting under a Full Moon that
rolled over into the morning ,
an open armed Sunrise....

Night eyes watched our every move,
listened to our laughter,
  windchimes in the dark,

and waited....
for our breathing
to fall into quiet rhythm with the water....

Waited for us to sleep.....

To dream.....

And then they danced around us....
Faeries and Things that go Boo! in the night....

Wild ones, and winged ones,
and Spirits from before....

Alive....
In the Psychedelic Forest......"

The Psychedelic Promise, Singleton Hippie Art

The Psychedelic Promise
(c) Singleton 2012 word and Artwork

"I teetered...

quietly leaning into the white tunnel...
pretending I was only tripping....
and just before I crossed over
into the Peaceful arms of
the whiteness....

I remembered the colors....
the sounds,
the smells,
the laughter of Life
and I remembered I wasn't finished....

Not yet.....

And I fell back,
fell foward
to
the new now,
landing smack into the eye of the storm,
into the littered aftermath of the beginning,
and the quiet lull before the end still to come...

Fell quietly into your arms,
and
the psychedelic promise...."

Imagine, Singleton Hippie Art Original

IMAGINE
(C) Singleton
A Hippe Art Box of Thoughts....

I reached down and scooped up
tiny abandoned periwinkle shells,
the colors of pastel rainbows,
and buried them deep into my pockets....
Seaweed, a deep forest green,
wrapped itself around my ankles,
an impromptu braided bracelet from the tides....
And
I knew
I was in Love again....
With all my forgotten Dreams,
my lost imagination......

And I knew then,
that
I would Dance again"

The Psychedelic Bird Nest, Singleton Hippie Art Original

The Psychedelic Bird Nest
(c) Singleton

Rafia Ribbon and spent matchsticks,
Remnants from an old tye dyed bedspread....
Tiny little fragmented moments gathered from the the leftovers of everyday living
and woven again
into a harbor....
of comfort.....
a place of Peace....
A nest of memories,
of make~overs,
and make~believes....

A resting place....

A beginning place...."

Psychedelic Tidal Pool, Original Singleton Hippie Art

The Psychedelic Tidal Pool
(c) Singleton

She lay there,
belly down,
arms and long fingertips at one with the sand...

The gentle green bath water rolling over her,
splashing her in salty Peace.

It was almost low tide...
Almost the New Moon...
Almost time for her to move on...

To Dance in the deep, deep waters....

But for just another moment,
she lingered....

Daydreams are like that"

Words and Hippie Art (c) Singleton

Painted on a salty day at the Sea.....Peace is like that:)

Jimi in Peace, Singleton Hippie Art Original

Jimi In Peace
(c) Singleton 2012

"I was dreaming
in crazy colors,
star spangled glorious colors,
and the music was
banging,
clanking,
clanging,
drifting,
and then....
everything was draped in Velvet,
heavy crushed velvet...
and
the Music was The Dream
...
Wild and wonderful....
Alive...

I saw him there...
behind the curtain...
behind the smokey haze....

And he was in Peace."

Singleton 2012

Watercolors, sharpies and markers on 11 x 15" Coldpress paper. A long time ago I hand sketched Jimi in Peace and my friend Jay, hand cut a stencil of that drawing... It's tattered now. Curled up on the edges. Old. This little poster was painted freehand with watercolors, and then I laid that little stencil baby down, and soaked it in watercolors, purple and blue hazy watercolors..... And it's a new dream:)

Raw Peace, The Promise of the New Day, Singleton Hippie Art

Raw Peace,
The Promise of a New Day
Singleton Hippie Art

She peeked out,
Just Barely,
over the river's edge.
Stretched her lazy pink pajama~ed arms
high up into the sky
and sighed...
The new Day...
The Promise...

And for just a moment
before the rickety rattle battle
of voices
and traffic
and chaos begins...

She's untouched...
Raw...
Perfect...."

Words and Artwork (C) Singleton 2011

Painted in the midst of pandemonium, watercolors, markers, acrylics, recycled wood and my hand carved Raw Peace stamp, broken, but symbolic, all the same:)

Mother Earth Unplugged, Singleton Hippie Art Original

Mother Earth Unplugged
(c) Singleton 2011
Hippie Art

"Stranded on the muddy river,
I played in the tar riddled sand...
scratching Peace Signs and writing LOVE
in giant cursive letters on the bank...

And there,
with the brown water slopping up my shins,
with the greatest sunrise ever smiling on my shoulders,
I met a Man with no voice...
a teensy weensy fish with no tail...
an Alligator older than Earth herself...

And
I met...
Myself
basking in the blessings
of Ma Earth,
unplugged."

(C) Singleton 2011 Born on a blazing hot Sunday, in my own World....where sometimes engines are meant to take you nowhere...and sometimes they're meant to stop running...And sometimes you're meant to embrace each and every moment, every miracle, every meant~to~be.

The Spirit, The Peace, The Love, Singleton Hippie Art

"Just Give Me Peace...

a mantra,

a song,

a silly little nursery rhyme

I sing~song over and over again...

Searching for the moment....

And then the dirt roads

opened,

wandered,

spilled over the roots of old trees

and footsteps of ghosts before me,

and led me to the River...

To the

dusty little heart of the Earth...

And there

on the banks of the Suwannee River...

we gathered ....

Kindred Spirits,

and sister loves...

Long legged deer swimming oblivious to our presence...

Owls and

a thousand

butterflies waiting to be born,

new friends,

old friends...

And the Music....

Wrapped in the Wanee....

Peace was the gift...

Much Thanks to All who brought me home again. To the Magic....

To my Sister Love for sparking the spirit and holding my hand, The Saint of all Hippies for leading the caravan and lighting the way, JayMagic for packing us up like the Clampetts and getting us safely there, Sweet Boyfriend of mine for smiling and making sure we had everything we needed, The Allman Brothers and the entire world of the Wanee Festival, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for greeting us with opened arms, Steven for coffee and being such a good sport, The Boys for being the best neighbors, Donald, Trish, Victoria, Ray~ray, Semerton and Sheila for wildness, disco nights, roller coaster rides and Taxi rides...Theresa for the laughter in the wind....And to all....each and every soul, every tree and sapling that graced us, every animal, large and small that made room for us and welcomed us.... And to the River,~ the Goddess of it all, Much Peace, and Thanks....
