One Love, Singleton Hippie Art

One Love (C) Singleton 2010 "We were wreckless... fatefully falling into each other's accidental arms and holding on tight. We were in Love... once...... for a very, very short time... and forever... Love is Wild like that" Words and Artwork (c) Singleton 2011 Painted at the edge of the waves, in the trickle tide, in the memory pool....Hippies are like that....

Love Untangled, Singleton Hippie Art

Love Untangled
(c) Singleton 2010-2011
Yup, painted on New Years Eve~right through til the New Day!

I didn't make a scene,
slam the door,
kick the dirt,
spin the tires...

I simply said
Good-bye,
and walked into the
New Year
with arms wide open,
two fingers raised high,
and kissed the sky.

Untangled,
andFree...
Now,
I'm ready for Love"

watercolors, canvas, scribbles, pencil, markers, and all that who~hah on canvas.

Singleton Hippie Art, The Story Teller

The Storyteller
(c) Singleton 2009

I lifted the tattered
paper,
folded, unfolded,
a thousand times
in this life,
and touched the faded
sunshine....
ran my fingers over
the colors
as soft
as
hand~me~down
jeans....

Three tables away
I saw the blue, blue eyes
come to life...
a firefly flickering...
dancing...

And then when
he ambled over,
barefooted,
and
leaned over me,
making sun shadows
with skinny arms and legs...

I started the game...

"Tell Me a story"....

Tiny little fortune teller...A tribute to all the stories we've told, the laughter we've shared, the choices we've made....Mine is over 20 years old...sea swept and faded. This one is bright and shiney and new...Just waiting for the stories to bring it to life. Here's to the summer of Love....and Hippie Beach...I can't wait!

Radio Love, Singleton Hippie Art

RADIO LOVE
(c) Singleton 2008

Ten thousand songs
streets
stories
and
I'm high...

Bare toes
balanced
on the very edge
of yesterday,
A rock and roll
ballet of
Butterflies and Bowie...
Incense and drums
rolling,
snapping,
Jiffy Pop on an open fire....
Tin can percussion
pulling you in...
And we're high...

Ten thousand lyrics
penciled
in the wind....

In the Weeds....
Outsider Hippie Woman Art

(c) Singleton 2007

SOLD

Tangled up in the sheets,
the stories,
your eyes...

Running knee high through
the weeds....
Dandelions brushing long legs

We laugh
And I fall asleep
with eyes wide open.....

kicking
at
the covers.....

SIMPLY SATURDAY
Outsider Hippie Woman Art

SOLD

Tattered little wings
strung around my neck,
Feathered Trinkets falling to the ground....

Dancing in the dust
Dancing in the past
Dancing in the old

And it's all new
And I've never been here before
And never seen your face, your eyes, your smile...
Felt your breathe....

But it's the new love
that's the oldest.....

And I've missed you for a million years....

The Ring, Singleton 2007, Outsider Art

THE RING
Outsider Woman Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2007
SOLD

Imposssible...
This trinket...
accidently lost...
It's owner paying no mind...
When the salty fingers of fate
spider-danced up into the sand
and stole, quickly,
the glittered past...

Impossible...
This trinket...
tumbling slowly...
lazily...
in an oceanic womb
of safeness,
and then
Clink.....
Landing at my toes....

Pencils, ink, markers, my life and all that other hoo-hah on 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock...

Relapse, Singleton 2006, Outsider Hippie Art

Relapse, total relapse
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Haunched,
ready to run,
watching,
waiting.

And
the sun was new and yellow
and glaring,
the coquina under my feet
almost blinding.

I almost didn't see you.
And when I did...
I forgot to run.
to fight.
to save myself from this again

relapse,
total relapse.

Catching Marbles in the Rain, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

Catching Marbles in The Rain
Outsider Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

In the early morning, sleepless,
"wandering the halls til almost dawn"
hours
I gave up and
trapsed outside
head banging
coughing
from a too late night
and
found her there
dancing in the knee high grass,
catching marbles in the rain.

FAIRYTELLER
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Don't think that for one moment
I believe
your stupid little ghost stories.
I'm just listening...
choosing to inhale...
to take the sepia remnants of your
bruised and battered
aura
and remember the afterglow

Peek-a-boo, Singleton

Peek-a-Boo
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Oh, he's there.
Peeking through borrowed eyes,
listening to second hand stories,
Parading around in a paper bag mask
living the perfect life

Watching
And waiting

Words you'll never know, Singleton

Words
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

Peace.
Love.
You will never hear,
never read,
never imagine.
Tucked safely here
In a found envelope
Addressed to no one.
"Send me words" you used to say...and I did...
morning bouquets of peace and love and startling relevations... that rocked your world...
but you didn't protect them. Guard them like your virginity. And now they are spoiled. And so what's left, for the postman to deliver
is just a stack
of
empty envelopes

Pen and colored markers on a roadtrip envelope

Scream Catcher
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD to The Keeper of My Thoughts

This little night time waif is all over the place, snatching up the scary stuff so only the good seeps through. It's an exhausting, never-ending bit of magic, sifting through everyday horrors, night frights, things that make you crazy, that break your heart, that scare the hell out of you, and trying to find the good. But she does. And in the end, dreams win.

The promise of sunrise
And fated good-byes.

Until then,
