Radio Love, Singleton Hippie Art

RADIO LOVE
(c) Singleton 2008

Ten thousand songs
streets
stories
and
I'm high...

Bare toes
balanced
on the very edge
of yesterday,
A rock and roll
ballet of
Butterflies and Bowie...
Incense and drums
rolling,
snapping,
Jiffy Pop on an open fire....
Tin can percussion
pulling you in...
And we're high...

Ten thousand lyrics
penciled
in the wind....

The Invitation, Singleton 2008 Outsider Hippie Art

The Invitation
(c) Singleton 2008
Family Collection

Elbows on the bar,
black beer coddled,
warming,
a mosquito pond
at his fingertips....
He sat,
sipping the same
old nightime magic,
waiting
on change
to come
slipping through
the roadside doors.

He wasn't expecting
the butterfly,
accidentally
momentarily
lost by fate,
flitting in and flitting out,
just long enough to
brush him,
rush him...

And in in the days
and nights that followed,
he watched for her,
left the doors open,
the windows wide,
eyes waiting....
but,
Peace is a passion dance
and she had whispered
without words,
the invitation that
was always there...

"Come Dance with Me....."

All I want for Christmas, Singleton Outsider Hippie Art

All I want for Christmas
(c) Singleton 2007
She whispered to
the wind,
who always listens,
to the painted fence,
a wooden confidant,
the bouganvilla,
with it's drunken
blooms,
cups filled overflowing,
moonshine for the souls
of butterflies...

"All I want for Christmas,
are trinket twigs
to build this nest,
this next,
this everything to come,
and stones
to line the
skipping path,
to
rock and roll
me home....

All I want for Christmas
is a little
taste of peace....
a little
moonshine
for my soul....

And the butterfly
answered,
by tipping his cup,
and spilling
glittered wine
in the wind.....

Wet Paper, Singleton, 2007, outsider art

Wet Paper
Outsider Hippie Woman Artist
(c) Singleton 2007

She watches
with sultry
drug-store eyes
and feeds
you
every
line
she's
ever memorized from
the jacket of a
Harold Robbin's novel,
and you
go
there...

you
thought for
just a moment,
there was something so familiar
you had to touch
to have
to try to feel again.

But the flowers in her hair
are plastic
and her
words
are
dirty lipstick smudges
on
wet paper....

you're damaged now...

Last Call, (c) 2007 Singleton, Outsider Art

Last Call
Outsider Woman Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2007

I'll stop...
for just a moment....
Scooch closer to hear your voice,
feel your smokey breath...

a butterfly ghost on my cheek...

"So...."
You'll say
And I'll dig my toes into the sand
And feel the dirty tide water
rising.

You pour your heart out...
"That's everything" you say...
And I'm wading in your after party,
treading through your stories....

In the deep, deep waters,
I blend...
Hold my breath
And hold my words....

Count to three...

And swim.....

Dance of the Butterfly, Singleton, 2007 hippie art

Dance of the Butterfly
Outsider Woman Hippie Art
Singleton
© 2007,

SOLD

It's All Good.

You yank my chains,
pull my strings...
and I'm swirling, twirling
going low
on the dancefloor.
until the music stops...
long arms and legs tangled
in the moment~
suspended in silence.

But I fooled you.

I have butterfly wings,
Ever so translucent,
And I slip
Quietly from
your Friday night cocoon

Stupid little soap opera.....

the rhythm...

And I might teeter,
wobble,
but I won't look down.

Peace is waiting.
And I'm going there.

The Secret Lives we Leave Behind, Singleton

The Secret Lives we Leave Behind
(c) Singleton 2006
Held in Private Collection

The Secret Lives we Leave Behind...
littered with what was once treasured trinkets and is now...
a dusky trail of spent cigarette butts,
sordid little love stories gone wrong...
And all the charm of cheap wine left to age on the kitchen counter
