Blue Henna Hand, Singleton Hippie Art

Blue Henna Hand
(C) Singleton 2009

I looked down
and traced a thousand
spider web
tattoos,
the tell-tale
broken lines of
every highway I've ever
wandered down,
the faint perfumed stain of
every weed I've plucked
from the garden
and embraced until it
was a Morning Glory...
the rambling
story of my life,
etched forever
on my blue,
blue hands...

I'm Old now.
And I'm thankful

12 x 12 collage with markers, colored pencils, sharpie and odd papers on a Saturday morning reflection.

Thank you, sweet Sandy! I'm not sure how it started, but my hands really do turn blue...
and just looking down I realized the miles they've traveled....
all the little wrinkles, a road map celebrating every little babies noggin' I've cuddled,
every loves hand I've held,
every heart shaped seashell I've found in the morning tide....

i live in a small town full of such negativity. i surround myself with the most positive people that i can. but so many are afraid of aging. it is such a beautiful gift to have found this site and your words. to find someone who embraces each new day and embraces getting older makes me so happy and realize that there is some hope for humanity.

OMG, One...I just had this conversation today at lunch time with someone from a neighboring office. She just turned 50 and was telling me how she cried and she's saving for a little face lift and chin tuck and how it's hell to grow old. I listened and it broke my heart. The best living, loving, laughing I've ever done has come with the freedom and wisdom of age...And here she was depriving herself of wings, to pay for a face in the mirror.

Age is a gift. One we don't all get to have, some not at all, and some not for long...We should embrace it...Wear it with flying colors...sashay it around...

And welcome here, One, anytime...
Where we don't get older...
We just live more:)

Oh thank you JustGiveMePeace I am so glad that I am here and that I found this site on a day that I was feeling so confused about things. I haven't had very good role models in my life so I've had to live and learn from myself. (I think it's made me a better person though :D).

I could never imagine altering my appearance by surgeries. That terrifies me that people do that. We are lucky for each day, and each extra day we should truly embrace. I lost a few I loved in highschool and to make it this far I am truly greatful.

Forever young.

One...
yes, forever young...the fountain of youth that so many have so desperately searched for has been ours all along,
tucked safely inside our souls...
little wings...
laughter...
love...
Embrace it all...
however fleeting...
The gift is in the living...

Nice to you again, friend.

Thank you my sister.
Those of us that embrace each day. And live, love and laugh and spreak our kindness. We are the ones who will have fulfilling lives. People are looking for things that they don't have. Trying to fill voids with materialistic possessions, which will only leave them feeling as if they need more. They've seperated themselves from nature as if they are worth more than a forest they cut down, or an animal they test on. Those of us that understand and respect nature. And respect the way that the nature of things work, growing older, changing in appearance will be able to live in peace and harmony. Some people are looking for something that's right under their noses. I wish I could tell the world! We all need to be one with nature again! People have became too selfish. It makes me sad for them.

peace&love my opioid sister.

Funny that I should read your words today....conversations all week have evolved around "stuff"...
I so wish we could all just spin in a circle and magically see what we already have right at our fingertips....
Recycle, Upcycle, rejoice, reclaim, rejuvenate, and say hallelujah, we've had the blessing all along!

Cheers to that darling!
As do I!
We need to stop creating and start reusing everything we already have! No more disposable items, no more technology upgrades! We have already done so well for ourselves we don't need to go any further unless it's a renewable energy resource! The world must open the minds eye.
