Cat under a Blue Rubber Moon, Singleton Hippie Art

Cat Under a Blue Rubber Moon
(c) Singleton 2009

In the tall blue grass,
I saw it first,
the colors of the forest...
flickering...

a black and yellow butterfly
flitting from
bent blade to tufts of green...
and then it disappeared...

The night has eyes in every color
and I watched that same patch of grass in the sands...
Until,
it watched me back...
And the butterfly grew
long arms
and legs,
wild and lazy,
and stretched
under the light of the blue rubber moon....

Words and artwork (c) Singleton 11 x 15 original on Strathmore heavyweight Coldpress paper. Colored pencils, markers, ink inspired by Jetflair's cat and a little vision out my back door.

It's good to be back and get inspired by those who have the gift of words...so inspiring

Lyrically...I think the words have been hidden in my closet, too...mini skirts from 1972 that I couldn't throw out, because I knew they'd come back around to dance again....
It's time to drag out our go-go boots again....
And live...love...laugh...color... write it all down!

Inspiration is a breeze...Time to fly the kites:)

LOL! Well I just went on a 3 mile hike and there was no breeze here either...
Good thing I have a colorful imaginiation....I kept picturing the Ocean one more block in front of me:)

oh so lovely
today on my lunch break at work i ran through the field and laid under the clouds. it is a brisk day but the fresh air felt amazing in my lungs :)

Wonderful! Onelove...and didn't you feel for just a moment like a butterfly, a wild free butterfly?

OneLove said...

I definitely did. I try to take a moment in every day to do that. I'm an animal too, I can't stay caged up or I get shakey, nervous and on edge.
I'm excited about the snow coming. Only a few nice days left and it's supposed to drop on us next week. All the leaves have splashed colour on the ground. Our small town looks beautiful. I will miss the green, but I do enjoy playing in the snow :)

What's your weather like where you are? And where exactly are you if you don't mind me asking?

peace&love

Snow? Wow! We're still in the 80's in good old Florida...I can't even imagine! I've only seen it in real life a couple of times! Romp in it, enjoy! I bet it's just gorgeous!

Oh my! I can't believe you've only seen it a couple of times! We have it for months and months each year and it's so lovely. The children are all outside on sleds and making snowmen and snow angels. We make skating rinks on the ground! It's such a beautiful time of year, cold, but beautiful! My grandparents will be in Florida soontime. They go every winter! I haven't been but I've heard it's just beautiful.

I bet it is absolutely stunning! To us, the sand is the snow....We have big imaginations, and lots of water to wash it in! Snowballs sound like a blast, and sledding....Fast! LOL! The closest we come to that is dune rolling (And ummmm, yeah, that would be how this old hippie broke a few ribs a few summers back!)

we have beaches here too and they are so much fun in the summertime with sailboats and swimming. my friends and i sit on the beach in a circle with our intsruments and play music all day long. it is so much fun. mind you your beaches are probably a lot nicer and cleaner than ours tee hee hee.
dune rolling has been something i've wanted to do for a long time. it seems soo much fun! you are so full of life! i can't believe you broke your ribs! i bet it was worth it tee hee.

All beaches are beautiful, I think. White mountain high dunes, rocky shores lined with coquina and surprises washed from the sea, muddy waters, aqua green waters, crystal blue waters...
There's something about the voice of the ocean, the roar of eternity, that just blows me away,
a stunning peek at Mother Nature at her finest....
And I can think of no where better to make music...
Rock on, friend...Enjoy the tides!
