Hippie Singleton Art, Peace~Let it Shine

Peace, Let it Shine
(C) Singleton 2009

Sunrain....
the light early morning
glitter of a lazy
sun
stretching...
her wispy golden arms
reaching,
blonde locks cascading upward,
caught in the sudden
static electricity of a new day...

Peace rises...
And while the night
rolls over,
covers his head
with the thick
warm blanket of yesterday,
I salute the sun

and embrace the second chance
today brings...

Original hippie mandala, a tribute to the Sun and the power of hope....Colored markers, pencils, sharpie on archival heavy weight paper. Drawn, colored and collaged onto a vintage vinyl LP...The Doors~Waiting for the Sun. 12 inches across, 12 inches high

Again you bring tears to me...

This is the song i have sung all my life...

And today in the midst of it all i hear it again...

It is hard my friend to watch people dying each day... Innocent souls, beloved by the earth and the winds and the waters, children, men, women, with so much life to LIVE...

We take our truck into terrain in which there shouldnt be houses...

Grass taller than a basketballer... And yet the nurse says "LEFT".... and we turn... making roads where there are no roads...

And sure enough there we find it... a house... I know some would not call it that... just sticks and leaves and mud packed together... but they are houses... love lives there...places where dreams are cooked and thoughts rest on the weary shoulders of tired days....

Where children play and laugh and cry... Where grown men weep and women carry the weight of the world on their broad african shoulders...

And yet in the heart of their sorrow... as they fight starvation, poverty, AIDS and abuse...I hear that song singing to me....

"This little light of mine...
I'm gonna let it shine"

And sometimes i think my heart will break...

But then i close my eyes and pray...

That whatever little light there is in me will be enough... to bring one moment of peace to a heart filled with hurt...

And somehow... through it all... I believe...

And the butterflies are everwhere...when i look for them..

Thank you for making my day once again with your peace~love...your wild and beautiful gifts...

Oh, sweet friend, Maithri....

You are the gift...and your broken heart...a mosaic of a thousand colors, shiny remnants of love, melded together into a new heart...a stronger heart...a heart with butterfly wings...

Bless you for going where the only path in and the only path out is Love....

Much Peace, my friend, may it be a blue sky, an umbrella over one world...

Hi Pilar!
Keep drawing, doodling, scribbling, experimenting....I was probably your age when most of these ideas began to really take shape...doodled on book covers, and 3 ring notebooks, the walls of my bedroom. And I did HORRIBLE in Art class! My poor art teacher just cringed at my work....but, I truly believe it's because my Mama taught us there was no right or wrong in art, if you just went with how you felt....And I still believe that!

I learned a lot along the way, like sometimes I draw the lines first and sometimes I just blob paint on and let it tell me where to go...Sometimes I know what I want to draw (And it never looks like that) and sometimes I have no idea where I'm going...But I always, always, always start with a feeling, a thought that I want to express...and somehow the colors find words of their own. I truly believe there's no bad art, no disposable art...it all tells a story, the one that's meant to be told at the moment.

I would love it, if you would stop back by with your work...that would be so cool!

Hey Pilar! Where are you friend?

Anon...
Hell, I don't know! Now I have to go and google Webster's dictionary to find out what Genre is...Gender? Generation? I don't know, I'm free, I'm old, I'm a hippie...I paint what I feel, think, want...

Create on...be free. Enjoy the movement. The moment. And if you're so inclined, lemme know what Genre of Art means...and share your work:)
