The Girl with the Peace Tattoo, Singleton Hippie Art

The Girl with the Peace Tattoo
(C) Singleton 2008

She was there
in the crowd,
Leon Russell on the stage,
a barefooted ballerina
flitting over mud puddles
and ice chests,
totally free...

And behind the pink
cloak of yesterday,
she still dances...

and every now and then...
someone notices
the tattoo....

Sometimes you have to go back,
to get it right. 8 1/2 by 11 on cardstock. Colored pencils, ink, markers, Michelobs, peace and love. I was a hippie then. And I thought I was an artist. But nobody put the two of them together...

You Know What They Say,Singleton, 2007 outsider art

You Know What They Say
(c) Singleton 2007
SOLD

I believe in
yellow butterflies
and little white lies
buried
in truths.

I believe
sidewalks cracked
are rivers wide
and waiting,
and tomorrow
is just another
fairytale,
another
quarter in the jukebox.

I believe if
you take my hand
I'll runaway

with you
or from you,
it doesn't really matter....

The Pusher, Singleton 2007, Outsider Art

The Pusher,
Outsider Hippie Woman Artwork

(c) Singleton 2007

SOLD

It's dark
and there's nothing.
I can't breathe,
but I hear butterflies panting, whispering...
and I know you're there...

Waiting....
With the fix.

I'm tainted now.
Torn.
Thorned.
Breathless.

And then it's dark again,
and there's nothing.

Nothing at all but the butterflies
panting, whispering, dancing in the dark.....

Peacekeeper, Singleton 2006, Outsider Art

PEACEKEEPER
Outsider Hippie Art
(c) Singleton 2006

SOLD

I've changed the locks
I hope you understand
I'll miss your eyes
the see-through color of thin waves
kissing sandbars
and the way you threw your head back
to laugh
chugging the good down

But you let the flies in

I hope you understand
