You saw the yellow butterfly, didn't you? , Singleton 2008 outsider hippie art

You saw the yellow butterfly, didn't you?
(c) Singleton 2008

"I've never noticed them before"
you said....
Sunday walking,
drenched in daybeers
looking at your feet,
stumbling on your words,
counting cracks that might
break your Mother's back.....

"They're everywhere"
you whispered....
on borrowed minutes,
sneak peeking backwards,
crawling in between
the sheets of
then,
long arms and
legs
stretching
reaching

"Peace~love"
we babbled
simultaneously
knocking the words right
out of each other
over each other
before hanging
up
a lifetime later....

And I knew....
you knew.....

  1. Day beers really are different than night beers, aren't they?
Without the music, the dancing,,,I always thought them kind of sad beers.

That is one gorgeous peace symbol Girl!

  2. Babs....
You are so intuitive....it's almost eery...
    those day beers were heartwrenching....
    but we had many
    that were
    a day at the fair....
    And so we were blessed....

    Funny about this peace symbol....
Skinny posted it first and I
    was drawn to it,
familiar but couldn't place my finger on it....
Knew somehow it came from my crayons,
    my soul....
    but couldn't remember drawing it....
thought, maybe Skinny had clipped it from another drawing, a tiny part of something bigger....
    and she laughed and said
    i sent it to her....
    Just sent it to her....
so i plundered through the stack
of colors piled on the desk
    and said
    No, no, no.....
    It's not here,
    I don't remember drawing it....

    And then...
    of course it was.....
    here,
    in my hands,
    and
    I knew.....

    Peace~love sweet friend

  3. This is so so so so beautiful my friend,

The painting resonates deeply in my soul...

    And your words...

    Let me just say....

That on a night like today...

When Its 7pm and I've been here since 6 in the mornin...

    And im busy checkin potassiums
and the size of peoples pupils
    and listenin to muffled heartbeats
    through borrowed ears...

    Its then...

    when your words
    resound
    within me the most

    Give me peace
    Help me exhale

    Take me flyin
    just for one sparkling moment

    with the yellow butterflies,

    I love you,

    M

  5. Oh Maithri.....
    Sweet friend....
    Wishing you peace
    peeking from a blue window....
through laughter trinklin' down a hallway....
    faceless and nameless,
but sudden windchimes in the stillness.....
    in the first breath
    of outside air...
    free....
    and delicious....
    Sending you
    the butterfly,
    my friend....

    Ibeati....
    She flutters....
    dances....
    fleeting moments
    we have to chase...
    and
    cherish....

    Peace~love my friends

  8. We knew...

    and that was enough

so the next step will be
onto the enldless expanse of clouds
    below

    Are you ready~
    and if so
can you tell me if I am?

    Is it too late?

    Because
    if we are falling,
    the only bad part
is when we hit the ground

    The rest is like diving

    all faith
    and only sometimes
    a pinch of fear
of what the top looks like
    staring up from beneath
    the clouds
    when the rain falls down
    with us on our way

    We know.

    We know
    that the dice throw
    might be good

    We know
    that if we're lucky
    everything will be all sailing
and never a toe will touch
    the earth ever again

    we know it's worth
    the chance

  9. I look at this drawing and these words and revel in you as a creator.

That's what it's always been about. It's always halped inspire me in a profound way. I wonder at how crazy my life has got, but moments like this, that I can write and let go and create once more from a friends inspiration tell me to hang on. You have a gift and it's been so wonderful to share it with another person like we have so often done...

    the highwire~
    no net
    no camera
    just words
    and some paint
    in this neon dreamscape window

    I see her eyes
they grab me on first sight
and don't let go until I am consumed
    taking them in
    like they live
    and breathe
    and dance
    and fly

    because they do live
    breathe
    dance
    and fly

    The highwire is their home

    the sky is their bedroom

    the sun is their lamp
    the moon is their
    blue fairy godmother

    And you know what?

    Somehow

    They even taught me
    how to fly

    But they tell me
    I already knew how
    and crashing
is a due you pay before
    the heights hold you up
    on their windblown kisses

  10. There are
    heavy days my friend

    when obligations and
    agendas
    intertwine
    like serpents

    When the window pane
    cracks from
    the
    Force
    of selfish winds

    And shoulders
    grow heavy with
    uncried tears

    On those weary
    days

    Like today

    I close my
    eyes

    and
    breathe

    breathe from
    my centre

    from the
    seat of my
    soul

    and ask
    the naked hands of
    life

    to take
    that
    stifled
    breath

    and let it grow

    till it
    expands within
    the caverns of
    my aching mind to

    bring back
    light,
    poise,
    softness,

    winged peace

    And
    somehow

    in the
    Breathing

    in the
    asking
    for an answer

    lives my
    redemption...

    And i remember
    what it means
    to pray

My deep love to you, M

  11. Eric....

    mardi gras beads
    red,gold, blue
    and emerald green
    filled with stories
    wanton words
    and upside down endings
    from the sky,

    jeweled rain....

    Sing on my friend,
say the words, tell the stories,
    light the campfire
    for the circle!

    Maithri....
    yes,
    these are heavy days,
    my friend,
    a woolen blanket, wet,
    a thousand pounds of
    cant~take~another~step,
    and then....
    a sunrise...
    And even if
    it's the same
    old over and over again,
    no happy endings yet,
    we believe....

    Much love my friends
    and sun....
    She heals....
    She nods....
    And like us,
raises her head every new morning
    and goes on....
    because she believes.....

    Peace~love
    May the circle be unbroken

  12. My friend,

When I'm comin in to work,
    On a winter mornings
    grey horizon

    I often see them...

    The hot air
    balloons,

    There's always one
    which catches my
    eye

    distracts me
    from the road

    makes my heart
    smile

    Its the one which
    stands out
    in the middle
    of all the bland
    ones

    Its the canary
    coloured one

    A yellow flower
    with a heart of
    fire

    And on its
    warm back
    is drawn

    a huge
    red
    Peace sign

    adorned round its
    edges
    with little
    red
    wild flowers

    And beneath
    this
    art work

    is the poem

    the one word
    song

    that ignites
    the grey dawn
    and weary eyes
    into flame

    "Love"

    And whenever
    I see
    it

    Like i did today

    I think of
    you

    and all
    the yellow butterflies

    burning grey skies
    into
    landscapes of
    hope

    With all my love,
    and wings of peace,

    M

  13. Sweet Maithri...
I don't know how this escaped me,
    a helium balloon set free,
    but now,
    today,
    eyes weary,
    threadbare and flat~tired,
    I found these words....
    saw the peace sign floating,
    watched it dip and dive,
    hide behind the clouds,
    play peek~a~boo in traffic...

    And I thank you!

JSYK....it means the world to me
