I Still Believe, Singleton 2008 Hippie Art

I Still Believe
(c) Singleton 2008

Fires
splashing
spitting,
snakes gone mad,
building anthills
in the garden...

Havoc raining
tea colored stories,
dripping,
slipping,
sepia maybes on the sunset....

But not today.

I believe in peace and love
and damned if
you're gonna
rain
on my
parade.

  2. sweetslb...."It is what it is" or so the saying goes....Nothin' bout it can be changed, but the take we have on it....
    "and so it goes"...
I try so very very hard to remember that
    even chaos has it's
    time at bat,
it's time to turn the page....
    and remember
to weave the little ribbons we've learned....into something good...
    "build a bridge"......
    you said....
And though I never crossed it, I made it strong enough to carry me, bright enough to light the way there and back again...
    I still believe....

  3. My friend,

The last few days have worn on me...

Agendas, and EGOs, and more Agendas and more EGOs...

they have pressed on my chest...

but i come here and read your words...

"I believe in peace and love
    and damned if
    you're gonna
    rain
    on my
    parade."

    And all of a sudden...

    I feel like flying again.

    You are the gift.

    Time to dance,

    Love to you, M

  4. Maithri....
The beautiful eclipse of the moon must have touched us all,
    cast it's
    sheer
    petticoat of darkness
    over the light,
    dimmed our spirits
    for it's you,
    Skinny,
    me,
    Kimbies,
strangers in traffic, behind me in line,
    out my kitchen window,
    all wearing the heavy eyes
    of
    "I'm so tired",
    and
    still.....
    we know better.

    We know that sometimes
    the only bridge,
    the only stepping stone,
the only rung on the ladder left to climb,
    is to believe.

    Without that,
    we all fall down....

    And yes,
    it's time to dance....
    to hear the music
    over
    under
    within
    the everyday noise,
    the lonely silence,
    the gifted wind.

    Peace, my friend,
    wishing you the yellow butterfly

  7. Babs....."a flower grows"....I love that....We have torrids of rain today and by Tuesday my unkempt little lawn will be littered with tiny little weed faces, yellow and white, lavender even, stretching for the sky....The neighbors will have patience, praying that maybe this week, I'll mow....But I won't have the heart to shear the shaggy little mop heads of my accidental daisies....especially now.....

No....You caught me preachin' again, huh? I'm gettin' old No, before you know it, I'll be that crazy little lady passing out homemade flyers in the Winn dixie parking lot.....:)

    Peace~love my friends....
It's the only parade worth marching in.....

  10. I didn't read anything else as I said to Maithri the day I met him. Sometimes it's important to say what you want to say and not hear another voice. I'll read of course, but right now, I just want to tell you that I love being here. You have a gentle, kind voice and you have the heart of an artist. I'm an artist, so I know. You make me laugh with your "Hippy Art" because I grew up near Woodstock, NY. Just a few minutes away! I love the complexity of your work, your words, your soul. We're almost the same age, I'm just a few years younger. I like it here and will stop by often just to exhale. Thank God blogger land has conncected all of us. I love that I have met so many amazing people.

    Take good care of yourself,
    XO Suzanne

  11. Suzanne....
You are so very very right about Blogger....It has become the golden thread of friendship, and the tie that binds us....weaves us...I've been so blessed to have made friends, wonderful friends, in a world of virtual strangers. And I'm smiling at your hometown roots! We grew up here in the South, but, and it won't make much sense to you yet, I just named my new bike, "Woodstock"! LOL! It's a pleasure to meet you, so glad you wandered over....the door is always open

    Peace~love

  14. Hi Sweetie,

I just came back to exhale. I'm not feeling well today because I ran into a tree limb, but being here makes me smile. And I smiled even wider when I read that you named your bike "Woodstock." That is too amazing! It's funny, I live in CA, but all my family is back in the Woodstock area and I'm considering moving home and opening a shop/gallery in Woodstock. If I do, you are always welcome to visit and stay at our home. Always.

Although this is all virtual, it isn't to me. My friends are real. It's as if you all just live next door and all we have to do is walk out to chat. I never look at this as virtual. Isn't that odd? I know the friends I've made I'd invite to my home in an instant. I've met the most amazing people from all over the world and I'm so grateful for this medium. Without it, I wouldn't know you. Can you imagine not knowing these people?

Love you dear and thank you for such a warm welcome.

    XO Suzanne

  15. suzanne..... OMG! " I'm not feeling well today because I ran into a tree limb"! Are we sisters? Cousins? Oh, the stories we could share......:) And then you could fill little ole Woodstock in on his heritage! And no, sweet girl, I cannot imagine not knowing these people, it's been one of the best road trips I've ever taken......And the circle grows....

    Peace~love my friend
