The Trip at Dusk

We parked under the humming halo light,
the sound of electricity, a thousand mosquitos strong...
and parked her there,
facing the night~time road
while we wandered like hippies do....

And when we returned,
a love note was tucked under the wipers,
not signed,
but sent with peace and love....

"She peeked out,
just barely,
over the river's edge.
Stretched her lazy pink pajama~ed arms
high up into the sky
and sighed...
The new day....
The Promise...

And for just a moment,
before the rickety rattle battle
of voices
and traffic
and chaos begins...
She's untouched.
Raw...
Perfect....."

A full 15" across and 1 1/2" thick, collage on wooden circle.  This heavy little Sunrise was created in the midst of Chaos.  The psychedelic Sun watercolored on Strathmore cold press paper, and collaged onto a painted and then sanded, smeared and distressed chunk of wood.  The word "Raw" and the broken Peace Sign were stamped from my handcarved  collection.

Road Trippin'....

"Together we make Sunshine,
whisk it into giant clouds of weightless glitter
and spin it into tinseled yarn....
And then like little old Pixies,
we drape it everywhere we go....
wrap it around Elderly trees,
sprinkle it on broken sidewalks,
tie it into giant tassels and pin it on
the handle bars of rickety rusty old bicycles...

We're spreading joy....
the simple peace of everyday life splashed new with a little soulful paint..."

They never go by their names.

Listen very quietly,
Listen with your heart,
Their voices are woven into and out of the Art...
     String singing in the wind,
     The dusty dance of butterflies as they spin...

The Spirits fill the beginning,
The Spirits fill the end...."

Peace, Love, and a New Sewing Machine

Peace,Love Stories, and a teeny tiny Sewing Machine....

Our Little Campaign

We live in a teensy little vintage travel trailer,
parked on the side of a deep and dark and winding river...
This is where we met,
fell in love,
and sometime in our story,
Married.....

In the spirit of our little Hippie Kingdom here....
on the day we said "I do"...
we flew prayer flags and made wishes in the wind....
We scribbled I love you's everywhere...
and we held hands and
twirled until we ended up where we always belonged in the first place....

In each other's arms....

Now....comes the really cool part!  We've whipped up a hippie Wedding for Everyone Else to  get married and party to! .... Prayer flags with My artwork on it,  Handfasting braids,  coloring pages for Lovers!
And we're doing it all as part of Etsy's FundonEtsy program, A crowdfunding program to support Artisan's and their endeavors!  So very, very cool!

And for us.....we just wanna raise enough money to park another little sewing machine on the counter, so we can both hum along to Todd Rundgren, Stevie Wonder, Carole King....and whip out flags....and other cool stuff....Together!

I see her everywhere...
on the tea stained wings of  fallen butterflies...
in the empty clam shells on the shoreline, houses long abandoned...
in the bath powder clouds patted across the skies...

I hear her
in the music of old bamboo chimes, telling stories in the wind...
on the scratchy vinyl spinning in our living room,
in the sound of the laughter,
of babies and strangers and maybe, even ghosts..

She's here.

Watching...
Protecting...

Keeping her promise.

I was,
swishing, pushing,
trying to hold my breath long enough
to rise up again,
to swim up...
when I found Peace at
the sandy bottom....
where all the dreams are tossed
to sink,
abandoned,
traded for another day...

And there in the dark...
I heard you...
barely making a splash...
diving
deeper,
hoping to find your own answers...

We're so excited to be joining the folks at Deland Indie Market at Artisan Alley on Sunday, May 24th!  The Weather is supposed to be rockin' glorious and good food, good folk, good vibes will be everywhere!

Ray and I have turned our little vintage hippie camper inside out getting ready for this one.... We've got prayer flags flying free, cardboard stories everywhere, and we're covered in paint....  Just countin' the days!  Stop by and see us!

"The dirty sands shifted,
ever so slightly,
and sunlight scattered through the darkness....
instant fireflies falling in the rheumy river....

She reached up and touched one....
two...
caught another...
building a candelabra
from the shattered rays
to light her way....
As
the currents crawled,
trickled, tripped,
snaked
through the woods....
running north, north east...
clinging to the thick earth,
sloshing past alligator eyes...
and banjos
until
Sirena,
swimming amongst the Manatee,
reached the salty sea.....
and the waters made brackish love to each other....

Here,
she became whole again...
The free spirited  Hippie Princess of the River,
and Mermaid of the Sea...
Sweet Sirena...
Mother of it all....

I watched your fingers...palms...
dancing,
falling,
catching themselves again in a tribal dance of weightlessness....
drumming....

Your blue eyes,
endless tidal pools,
swirling in the warm waters of new and old....
clashing,
crashing,
splashing together...

And listened to your spirit,
singing in a thousand tongues...
a love language that only we understood...

We circled the moon,
and scattered the stars....
Psychedelic confetti for another day......."
