She sees Things, Singleton Hippie Peace Art

She sees Things
(c) Singleton 2008

"He watches her,
quietly digging her toes into the sand,
tracing the hermit crab's trail with her fingertips...
watches the smile,
a polaroid pixie,
whimsically painting it's way up her face...

He knows
she knows...

She sees things....

Old faces in
bent trees,
Sad eyes
in lost marbles found again,
Promises
on butterfly wings,
Accidental hearts
on the tea~stained counter top....

She sees things,
because....

She believes"

Recycled cardboard, shaving cream, food coloring, colored markers, acrylics, watercolors and ink....

This little Hippie went to town...
painting on the porch with the wind...
Waterspots, inksplots and paint drops....
Accidental art....
And doesn't that mean, it was meant to be....

Rest in Peace, Sweet Friend, Singleton Hippie Art

Rest in Peace,
Sweet Friend
.
(c)Singleton 2008
.
I see you in
accidental
places at
accidental times,
a face in the rearview
mirror,
laughing
in five o'clock traffic...
a shadow on the midnight
walls,
watching...
a reflection in the wishing pond,
fleeting, but
there, I swear....
.
I hear you in
the sudden orchestra
of unexpected windchimes,
the laughter of strangers,
the
"I know this means something"
words to a song I've never heard
before...
.
I feel you...
The giant quiet so loud
it rocks my world...
.
And I'm listening...
.
Rest in peace,
sweet friend....
.
and in love...
.
It grows....
Singleton hippie art, this one and only night a tribute to the gazillion moments you still touch my life...
Colored markers, pens, pencils on hand~me~down paper. Drawn in the rain on a Monday night porch. And yes, It's the Day of the Dead, but in my world, it's just another day when Nadine and Joe come to visit and no~one can see them, but me.....
Much love, sweet friends....

Face Painting, Singleton Hippie Art

Face Painting
(c)Singleton 2008
SOLD

Come on in,
drop your
wanna~be's
and
look~at~me's
at the kitchen
door...

Hang your
fancy keys
on the picket fence,
your three piece suit
on the arbor,
your Big Fish Story on the clothesline....

Come on in,
but
make it free...

I'm not
tradin' peace
for nothin'....

Colored markers, pencils, ink and a promise I made to myself 30 something years ago....
And still believe. Love is free, but it ain't cheap.

The Girl with the Peace Tattoo, Singleton Hippie Art

The Girl with the Peace Tattoo
(C) Singleton 2008

She was there
in the crowd,
Leon Russell on the stage,
a barefooted ballerina
flitting over mud puddles
and ice chests,
totally free...

And behind the pink
cloak of yesterday,
she still dances...

and every now and then...
someone notices
the tattoo....

Sometimes you have to go back,
to get it right. 8 1/2 by 11 on cardstock. Colored pencils, ink, markers, Michelobs, peace and love. I was a hippie then. And I thought I was an artist. But nobody put the two of them together...

Peace is a Paisley Dress, Singleton Hippie Art

Peace is a Paisley Dress
(c) Singleton 2008
SOLD

October swing,
wooden and crickety,
crooked and old...
tick~tocking over the gravel driveway...
I lean way back
and stretch my legs out
pointy toed to
kiss the sky
and swing higher,
rock dust
powdering my cheeks,
eyes closed.

And I remember...

The sound of the tires
crunching the gravel...
Peek~a~boo smiles...
Accidental million mile hello's...

And in the wind,
my paisley dress
dances,
one last ballet fading...

And swinging here....
swooping back to earth and flying high...
I'm a butterfly for just a moment...

11 x 11 Orignal on recycled cardboard. Background tye dyed with shaving cream and food coloring. Paisley Peace scribbled from this hippie's memories....
