The Marathon, Singleton 2007, Outsider Art

The Marathon
(c) Singleton 2007

Collapsed
on the vinyl sea
belly to the sun
riveted to
the moment
I drift
eyes closed
and then open to
the rains
and remember
the running
faster and faster
out of breath
and time
and a
place to hide.

And
weightless
I tether myself to
a pretendy bendy kind of peace
and the trinkety tide
becomes
the wind
and pushes
me
closer
to the edge.

And
I wait
to be lifted......

Telephone lines....Singleton 2007 Outsider Hippie Art, Just Give me Peace

TELEPHONE LINES
(c)Singleton 2007

I'm twirling the make believe
curly que cord in my hand,
my hair
tangled
and matted
and bed-headed after
hearing you breathe
sigh
pause.

And we hang up
in "say the words"
and
I don't even listen,
don't want to know,
don't even want to hear them again,
Just want to find
peace
in
remembering
And
whispering
the words like a chantra
I know you'll never forget

And I
don't want
to
wreck what I remember,
you remember,
we remember,
with what if's and could'ves and
unlimited minutes of
fairytales

In the early morning hours,
I welcome the dial tone......

On the Fly, Singleton 2007 Outsider Art

ON THE FLY
(c) Singleton 2007

On the Himalaya
spinning,
holding on
to hands
rails
moments
noise

Riding
over and over again
on a
cardboard ticket stub
until we're spent

and the only
thing left
is an empty pocket
and the sultry
high
from
being on the fly
